Spam Indexing If iias is your email provider, you can use the following steps. Other email providers may be different.
To teach the email server which messages are Spam and which are good, use the included Spam Indexing tool provided by our WebMail server.
1) Login to your WebMail account. 2) Move all Spam in your Inbox to the Spam folder, then move all good email
from your Spam folder to your Inbox. 3) In the bottom pull-down menu, select “Spam Index Now” and click OK.
While Spam Indexing is an effective tool, you must make sure that there are no good email messages
in your Spam folder and no Spam email messages in your Inbox before you Index. Also, you may have to Index your Spam folder a couple times for the
server to recognize Spam correctly.
Note: If you follow these steps and then find the “Spam Index Now”
option is not available, call us and we will be happy to set up this function for you.
Black & White List Filters Another option for preventing
Spam in your Inbox is to use black & white list filters. Your white list is any email addresses or subjects that you
wish to always be sent to your Inbox. Your black list is any email addresses or subjects you do not want in your Inbox.
To simply add to your black or white list, use the following steps:
1) Login to your WebMail account. 2) Open the message you wish to whitelist or blacklist. 3) To add the sender to your whitelist, click the green checkmark next to
the sender’s email address. (To add the sender to your blacklist, click the red arrow
instead.) This will bring you to the filter page. 4) Make sure the “Enable” checkbox at the top of the page is checked, then
scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Add” button. If you want to have a little more control over your blacklist, you can
create filters manually.
1) Login to your WebMail account.
2) Click the “Settings” tab at the top of the window, then click “Black
& White List” on the left hand side. 3) Make sure the “Enable” checkbox at the top of the page is checked. 4) Scroll down on the page to create your filter. An example is given below. |
a) Select the “Option” you want; you would
normally choose “Mark As Spam” for your blacklist or “Accept” for your whitelist. b) Choose the appropriate “Item” from the pull
down menu. Select “Body” to filter by the content of the email, or choose “Any Header”
to filter by email address or subject. c) Choose the “Function” you require; for most filters you would select “Contains String”. d) Enter your string. (This is the email address or
text you want to filter; viagra, for instance.) e) Click the “Add” button.
Note: To modify a filter, click on the filter, scroll down the page, make your changes as above, then click “Modify”. |
