HDTV Coming to The Web

The combination of high definition and compression technologies are bringing TV-quality video to the web. Adobe Systems Incorporated announced on August 21st that the latest update for Adobe Flash Player 9 software enables delivery of high-definition television quality and premium audio content through Adobe Flash Player.

Six days later, Akamai Technologies, Inc. announced that “a consistent, high-definition video experience is now possible online via its global content distribution network.”

What does it mean? Higher quality video on a wider display and improved audio. Basically, you can make a web presentation of the same quality as a TV commercial. We’re not recommending that you turn your website into a 24/7 infomercial, but this sure opens the door to greater use of high quality video and animation to get attention, convey your key messages, and connect with your audience.
